About Us - Matthew's Wildcat's
Matthew's Wildcat's was formed in 2009 after Matthew was diagnosed with PDD - High Functioning Autism
For about 5 years, we, as his family were not informed that there were functions that helped autistic children, and we thought we were alone in this battle.
WE CAME TO FIND OUT THAT WE WERE NOT ALONE!!!!
Once we did some research, after being informed by a therapist, we found the organizations that have tremendously helped Matthew, not only with programs, but with other autistic children, and adults that have met Matthew and have really impacted him as a person.
Prior to the 2009 Autism Walk, Matthew's Wildcat's was created and Matthew....himself, at 8 years old, helped create the team name, design the T-Shirts that we wear and our chant that we shout when we walk.
At the time the team was formed, Matthew loved the Disney Movie Series High School Musical....and the basketball team portrayed in the movies is the Wildcats.
It only seemed fitting that we, as his parents, make his idea and requests a reality!!
After those discussions.....Matthew's Wildcat's was born!!
Matthew was an awesome child, who regardless of who you were, would walk up to you, extend his hand and say hello.....that he has since grown into a young man and has kept those same values.
Now at age 15.....Matthew is a member of his high school band, and along with his sister, has recently joined a volunteer fire department and both are proud to say they are '2nd Generation Firefighters'
And one person, we can not leave out is Matthew's sister, Kaylee.......Kaylee has helped Matthew through thick and thin, and while at a young age, did not fully understand why her big brother had some problems....she was right beside him, helping in anyway that she could.
If you have the opprotunity, say hello to Matthew and Kaylee at the next walk and come walk with us so that we can
'Claw Our Way To A Cure'
GO WILDCATS!!!! - GET YOUR HEAD IN THE GAME!
